For the Shopper: Guyana is a shopper's paradise. It is a county rich in Unique handmade and hand designed clothing, jewelry craft items and more. Hibiscus Plaza outside the Post Office in Georgetown has a wide variety of local arts and crafts including straw hats, books, baskets, clay goblets and hand carved wooden items. On Sundays, the Parika Market, on the west coast of Demerara, sells a variety of goods and is worth a visit. Other shops sell Amerindian bows and arrows, hammocks, pottery and salad bowls. Government-run shops sell magnificent jewelry, utilizing local gold, silver, precious and semi-precious stones. Don't forget to pick up some Rum on your shopping spree. Come enjoy the Shopping.

 

Looking for relaxation? Sling a hammock between two trees in the Botanical Gardens or National Park, mix with good food and friends and you have an ideal recipe for relaxation. If you are looking for a more contemporary spot try one of the lovely resorts tucked away from the hustle and bustle of the city. Book a tour with one of several efficient operators.
