About Bartica:
An Amerindian word meaning RED EARTH a name naturallly suggested from the colour of the soil in the area. Historically , Bartica has developed from an Anglican missionary settlement in 1842 to the busy town it is today . Bartica has a rich history as well as dynamic and diverse populace . Its population consists of a harmonious mix of people from six different ethnic groups,namely African,East Indian ,Amerindian ,Mixed Races , Chinese and European descent.
